-Originally cast in 1902 for the annual exhibition at
the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. It was published in
Brush and Pencil, December 1903 and displayed at the 1904
Louisiana Purchase Exposition
-Washington University in St. Louis previously had a
cast of this work in their collection47. It is possible that
he donated work was the de-accessed work as no other example
of the work has been found.
-According to Loredo Taft, this is “the earliest
public demonstration of his artistry...”! He states the
early cast is in the St. Louis Museum of Art.
