Worked in England until/about 1845; emigrated to America. Worked for N. Currier and Currier and Ives 1847-65. Soon established as marine artist. Died February 2, 1894, West Hoboken, New Jersey.
Exhibited: American Art Union, New York City 1850-52. Collections: Atwater Kent Museum, Philadelphia, PA; Maine Maritime Museum, Bath, ME; Mass. State House, Boston, MA; India House, New York; Mariner's Museum, Newport News, VA; Museum of City of New York, NY.
Painted around Gloucester, Cape Ann, North Shore, Massachusetts.
