Vincent Nesbert

American, (1898–1976)
Nesbert emigrated to the US in 1914.
Studied at the Carnegie Institute of Technology and the National Academy of Design 1920-1921.
Upon graduation from the National Academy of Design he received the Joseph Pulitzer Prize for a year study abroad.
Nesbert exhibited in the 1922-1927, 1929-1931 Carnegie Internationals.
Nerbert painted the murals in the Allegheny County Courthouse in the 1930s.
The WMAA's drawing is the mural study for "Industry".
He taught at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for many years and was an outspoken
critic of Modernist painting.
