Alex T. Fletcher
American,
(1866–1952)
Apprenticed to an interior designer, one of the many things that Fletcher learned was how to clean and repair old paintings found in the castles and manor houses in his native Scotland.
Fletcher went on to school to further study his trade. He came to America when he was 22,
first to Mr. Pleasant, PA, then to Greenburg where he married. Earning his livelihood primarily from his interior design work, Fletcher often painted household objects (furniture, even toys) with flowers, landscapes and local scenes for his clients. Active in the local art community, he helped found the Greensburg Art Club and was its president for 18 years. Fletcher was also a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh for 26 years.
